Local Color

This image was created by Claude Monet and was called La Grenouillère. It was made in 1869. Local color is the color opposed to optical color and perceptual color, the actual hue of a thing, independent of the ways in which colors might be mixed or how different conditions of light and atmosphere might affect color. In this image with the sun shining on all the objects the shadows start to appear. While the water might be clear, the shadow of the object help to effect the way the color is viewed so instead of blear you'd see a darker image due to the shadow.
